Common Ants in Florida
Florida Ant Facts
Ants may be the most industrious little guys in the insect world. There are countless different species and some can be a pretty big problem, especially in Florida.
The most common nuisance down south is the White-Footed Ant. Fortunately, they don’t bite or sting and they are extremely small. However, they come in huge numbers – often up to 1,000,000 ants in a single colony! That’s not pleasant when they’re swarming all over your kitchen countertop. Each colony contains many queens so they can and will reproduce faster than you can squash them, that is for sure. White-Footed Ants pose no real danger to humans, they certainly can make life a little less pleasant and they are extremely hard to get rid of once they’ve found a home. Spraying can work. Baiting can work. Most often it takes a Pest Control Expert to assess the situation and recommend the proper way to eliminate White-Footed Ants.
